To be of use, it is very important to ensure the donations meet local needs. Working with UNHCR, NPO and NGOs worldwide, we confirm necessary volumes, clothing types, and delivery routes, and ensure the right people are in the right place to conduct effective needs-appropriate clothing support initiatives.

UNIQLO and GU employees visit sites to learn the needs of refugees and see how the clothes we donated were being used.
UNIQLO (First Retailing Group) began collaborating with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2006 and formed a partnership in 2011. With the support of UNHCR, we found ways to direct our resources to programs that support refugees, such as donating clothes to refugee camps and empowering refugees through vocational training.

established in 1950 to resolve the refugee crisis by supporting displaced people.
In 2009, UNIQLO and GU in Japan launched The Power of Clothing Project. Under this project, UNIQLO and GU employees serve as instructors in our school outreach program for children. The children learn about clothing donations by UNIQLO and GU to refugee camps, using the opportunity to learn more about international refugees and displaced persons. The children learn about life among refugees and the role of clothing, and set up their own clothing drives.
