Talking about UT and what he/she likes with Actor Himi Sato and Sawa Niwa.

UT 22SS COLLECTION

Based on UT’s theme of “Wear Your World,” we focused on people who expressed themselves with the latest UT collection in a variety of settings while being true to what they “like.” What do they find appealing about these graphic T-shirts?

HIMI SATO / Actor, Musician

BLUE NOTE RECORDS

Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Himi Sato. I was born in 1999 and am 22 years old. I am an actor. While appearing in movies, dramas, and on stage, I also started a label called Aslis and am active as the singer-songwriter HIMI.

Q: UT’s brand theme is “Wear Your World.” Please tell us about your “World” (i.e., what you like, what you are devoted to, what you cannot give up). Also, what attracts you to that and why?

There are so many things I like, so it is impossible to choose. First of all, I like to sing in a loud voice, play musical instruments, dance, and read. Of course, I like acting as well. I also like to observe people and things. You can gain knowledge by immersing yourself in what you like, but I also know that energy will come back to me in return. Immersing myself in what I like makes me an even better person and makes me like even more things. If your were to ask what I can’t give up, it would be to stop liking things.

Q: Do you often wear graphic T-shirts? On what kind of occasions do you often wear them?

I often wear them. I wear them basically whenever I feel like wearing them, regardless of the scene.

Q: What do you think is the appeal of graphic T-shirts?

I wear them if they depict someone I like or if they hold memories for me. I also wear items made by my friends. I think the only reason I wear them is because they depict something I like.

Q: What were your impressions of the design of the UT you wore this time, and how did it feel to wear?

The design was simple, allowing to be worn for various occasions, and it was comfortable to wear.

SAWA NIMURA / Actress

Andy Warhol / Jean-Michel Basquiat / Keith Haring

Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself.

Nice to meet you, my name is Sawa Nimura. I am an actress.

Q: UT’s brand theme is “Wear Your World.” Please tell us about your “World” (i.e., what you like, what you are devoted to, what you cannot give up). Also, what attracts you to that and why?

I like many things, but I especially love T-shirts. If I find a T-shirt I like, I will also buy it online. I also like to make my own original T-shirts. I am a person who thinks it is good to have as many T-shirts as you want, so I have quite a few. My mood brightens when I wear clothes I like. And I feel I can understand things like what a person likes by what kind of T-shirt they are wearing, which can also be a good conversation starter. I think that is what makes T-shirts interesting.

Q: Do you often wear graphic T-shirts? On what kind of occasions do you often wear them?

I do wear T-shirts quite often. I like to wear them anytime and for any occasion. For example, when I meet a friend who likes cats, I wear a T-shirt with cats on it. When I meet a friend who likes dogs, I wear a T-shirt with dogs on it. I often decide on the design of the T-shirt I will wear according to who I will meet and where.

Q: What do you think is the appeal of graphic T-shirts?

I think if it makes you happy, then you can wear something for whatever reason. I like people who wear what they want to wear. If I see someone wearing a T-shirt with similar taste, I sympathize with them and feel happy. It also serves as an opportunity to get to know someone, and above all, it somehow raises my own spirits.

Q: What were your impressions of the design of the UT you wore this time, and how did it feel to wear?

I have always liked Yu Nagaba’s illustrations, and I have actually purchased some of the dog accessories he has drawn. So, I am happy to be able to collaborate with him in this way. The Louvre Museum… I would love to go. I would like to see the real Winged Victory of Samothrace someday.
