Most people might have heard of one of the museums such as The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Musée du Louvre, Tate Modern, and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. These museums boast some of the world's finest art collections. UNIQLO has partnered with these four museums to promote art through a variety of programs. We developed the UT Collection, which incorporates the artwork from each museum into T-shirt designs, with the goal of making art fun to wear. This summer, we created the “Museums of The World Collection,” which featured the architecture and logos of these four museums.
The Museum of Modern Art
MoMA, located on 53rd Street and 5th Avenue in New York City, opened its expanded campus in 2019 with a reimagined presentation of modern and contemporary art. The partnership between MoMA and UNIQLO began in 2013, as a result of our shared philosophy of “Art For All.,” Since then, the partnership has provided a series of free-entry nights so that more people can enjoy art, as well as a video program called UNIQLO ArtSpeaks which follows MoMA staff as they introduce the fascinating works on view in the Museum collection.

PROFILE
The Museum of Modern Art connects people from around the world to the art of our time. Founded in 1929 by three visionary women, it was one of the first museums in the United States dedicated to modern art. MoMA’s collection includes almost 200,000 artworks spanning mediums and genres, from painting and drawing to film, architecture and design, and performance. MoMA aspires to be a catalyst for experimentation, learning, and creativity, a gathering place for all, and a home for artists and their ideas.

Musée du Louvre
The Louvre and UNIQLO just launched a four-year partnership in 2021. Based on a mutual desire to share the Louvre's art with as many people as possible, in addition to the collaboration for the UT collection, UNIQLO is sponsoring an educational program called “Mini Discovery Tours.” This program is mainly aimed at families, with dedicated staff members giving 20-minutes mini tours every Saturday and Sunday to show children and others the main pieces of art of the collections and architectural elements of the Palace.
More about the partnership with the Louvre
The Louvre has an awe-inspiring presence. It was a palace originally built as a fortress, and it also boasts the famous Louvre Pyramid, made of glass and metal, towering over the Cour Napoléon courtyard. The two symmetrical structures of the pyramid, one with classical architecture and the other with futuristic elements, are one's first impression upon entering the museum.
PROFILE
The Louvre has been at the core of French history for over eight centuries. A royal palace originally built as a fortress in the late 12th century, it became a universal museum in 1793. Today it is the world’s most visited museum. Open to all, it features over 33,000 of the world’s finest artworks, spanning 9,000 years and five continents.

Tate Modern
Tate Modern, which rises along the Thames River in London, England, is characterized by its rugged brickwork and large chimney, which are remnants of a former power station. The collaboration between Tate Modern and UNIQLO began in 2016 with a series of events called “UNIQLO Tate Lates.” These special late-night events where visitors could participate in the latest art exhibitions and workshops were well received, especially by young Londoners. “UNIQLO Tate Play,” a workshop program for families, has started in 2021, for a new three-year partnership. The jointly-developed graphic T-shirts will be promoted to make art more accessible and enjoyable.

PROFILE
Since it first opened in 2000, Tate Modern has transformed attitudes to the visual arts in the UK. Its pioneering collection displays, exhibitions, commissions and events have attracted over 60 million visitors – an average of five million each year – more than double the number for which it was designed. These visitors have increasingly demanded new ways to engage with the museum, while Tate’s collection of international art has expanded to embrace new regions, new media and new generations.

Museum of Fine Arts Boston
UNIQLO and the MFA formed a partnership in 2017, collaborating on several UT collections inspired by artworks from the Museum’s collection of Japanese art—celebrated as the finest outside of Japan. The T-shirts have played a role in spreading the appeal of ukiyo-e masterpieces by artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Kuniyoshi to people around the world. UNIQLO has additionally supported art-making activities and the Boston Festival of Films from Japan at the MFA, as well as the exhibitions Monet and Boston: Legacy Illuminated, Showdown! Kunuyoshi vs. Kunisada and an upcoming exhibition focused on Hokusai in spring 2023.
The design depicts the museum’s façade in a classic collegiate style, paying homage to Boston’s abundance of colleges and universities. The bright red color used in the logo is also used for the word “BOSTON” on the front, adding a pop accent.
