For the past 30 years, Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. has been one of the most popular video games in the world. This year, Illumination—an animation studio known for Despicable Me and other films—is bringing Mario’s story to the big screen with The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The designs in this UT collaboration, inspired by the 3D animated film, tap into the reasons behind Mario’s lasting popularity.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie tells the story of Mario and his brother Luigi, two plumbers from Brooklyn, New York, who go on an adventure through the Mushroom Kingdom. Along the way, they join forces with Princess Peach and Toad as they prepare to face their nemesis, Bowser. The tale of courage and friendship is packed with fun scenes that pay homage to the many games that originated their story, from Super Mario Bros. to Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Smash Bros. The characters are voiced by a star-studded cast featuring some of the biggest names in Hollywood, making this a highly anticipated film for gamers and movie buffs of all ages and genders.
The exciting world of the film is captured in this UT collaboration, in which all of the T-shirts come with a special sleeve tag bearing the familiar image of a warp pipe. Some designs are available in both adults’ and children’s sizes—they’re perfect for when you want to create a sense of unity with your family, just like Mario and his friends! Now, pull on your T-shirts and head off to the movie theater. Let’s-a go!
