UT magazine will exhibit at the TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2023 to be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo for four days from November 23. UT magazine will be exhibiting at 2023 under the direction of UT Creative Director Kosuke Kawamura. This initiative will showcase a special collaboration of five artists including Mr. Kawamura.
A remarkable event to rediscover the possibilities of books and art
TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR is the first book fair in Japan dedicated to art publishing, and was launched in 2009. Held once a year, it has grown to become one of the largest art book fairs in Asia, bringing together artists and publishers of unique art books, catalogs, artist books, and zines.
In 2023, about 300 publishers, galleries, and artists from Japan and abroad will gather at the event, each of which will be a place to share the appeal of books. In addition, visitors will be able to experience a variety of programs such as talk shows with invited guests, book signings by authors, and live performances.
As part of UT's activities to connect with various cultures and spread the appeal of those cultures through T-shirts, UT will exhibit at this event to communicate the connection between art culture and UT. For the first time, the UT booth will sell a special set of T-shirts (only L and XL sizes are available, 3,500JPY each) and zines created in collaboration with artists from Japan and abroad, available only at the event.
The participating artists selected by Mr. Kawamura are a rich array of personalities. Kari DeWitt, an LA-based artist who also collaborated on the "The Message" collection launched in January of this year, and Zoe Zag, a hot young artist from LA who works under the name Bad Dog. The lineup includes GUCCIMAZE, who collaborates with domestic and international brands as a graphic artist, and Hikaru Matsubara, who has attracted attention for his artwork that adds humor to simple graphics.
In addition, a workshop will be held in collaboration with RISO, a company that pursues innovative and artistic printing technologies such as risograph. The first 100 visitors per day (400 visitors maximum in over the four days) who purchase a set of UT and a zine will be able to have one of the above five artists' artworks printed on a tote bag.
We hope that you will experience UT magazine's new approach to this event, where you can see and feel a variety of art through the creative works of a wide range of exhibitors.
