Once you’ve made the most of your clothes, it’s time to recycle. RE.UNIQLO is working towards a circular society by selling pre-owned clothes. Items collected by UNIQLO are carefully sorted, washed and dyed, giving them added value. Suited for all ages, these pre-owned treasures are more than just a re-newed item for your wardrobe, they reduce clothing waste.

A fun choice for anyone. That’s how we think of pre-owned clothes. Items collected from customers are given new life and added value through the use of up-to-date technology and processes.

Collect
Items customers no longer need are collected at RE.UNIQLO boxes in stores.
Sort
Clothes are sorted according to style and condition, separating those that can be worn again from those to be recycled as textiles or raw materials.
Wash / Process
Depending on the material, care could involve professional laundering, the use of enzymes to remove fuzz and lint, or redyeing at dyeworks in Japan.
Inspect
Garments are individually inspected and returned to stores for you to discover.

Items specially selected due to their superb condition are washed professionally, thoroughly inspected, and brought to stores. Seasonally appropriate items like outerwear, sweats, shirts, and jeans as well as pre-owned standards can be purchased at reasonable prices.

"BIORESTORE" Making pre-owned clothes as good as new using enzymatic cleansers.

Up until now, buying pre-owned clothes has been about discovering great items. But now that people are more conscious of the impact of their clothes on the environment, this thinking is changing their choice of pre-owned clothes. It's also advantageous to make pre-owned clothes accessible to those with a voiced preference for "classy outfit" or "not wearing someone else's stuff." That's why UNIQLO is creating a new way for people to enjoy pre-owned items. It's called BIORESTORE. Using a cleaning agent developed by Swedish startup BIORESTORE, worn surface elements are removed from the clothing, getting rid of lint, restoring color, and giving the clothes bounce. The natural enzymes have no effect on the human body and minimal environmental impact. UNIQLO is pioneering the use of BIORESTORE in the retail market.

“Overdyeing” Gives Clothes Renewed Expressiveness

Items well-suited for redyeing due to their material or condition are hand-picked from the collected garments and redyed as appropriate at dyeing facilities in Japan equipped with advanced technology. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece.
