COMMITMENT
TO REDUCING
SINGLE-USE PLASTIC
Around 8 million metric tons of plastic debris enters the oceans every year. Around 80% of that debris comes from towns and cities, so it is important for us all to consume less single-use plastic. UNIQLO has implemented four sustainability measures to help cut this waste.
Reducing single-use plastic
UNIQLO has decided to reduce single-use plastic in its stores, beginning September 2019 by phasing out plastic shopping bags, and continuing throughout 2020 by reducing the amount of single-use plastic in its product packaging.
ACTION①
From 2019, plastic shopping bags have been replaced with bags made from recycled paper or paper in line with Fast Retailing Group's procurement policy.
